About
I am that story of a woman who thought she had a plan and while she was planning, life happened.
I have spent my career between the pharmaceutical world and higher education. I have a Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Wyoming. Go Pokes! I was an Author and Clinical Editor for a medical publishing company, Natural Standard. I was an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Currently, I am a Per Diem Pharmacist for Shaw's Osco Pharmacy and an Instructor at the Community Colleges of Vermont.
Like most of us, my life changed forever in 2020. I entered a dark period. My ingrained response was to run to the mountains and take anyone else that was willing to go. Whether it was hiking, kayaking, or simply walking for hours. Nature was where I turned when I was about to reach a breaking point. For the last few years, I have spent my time wandering around the woods of Vermont. I was lucky to stumble upon a moonlight hike invitation that led to me discovering The Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT).
Early on in my career as a Clinical Editor at Natural Standard, I read various studies on the effects of being in nature. I figured, "what's the worst that could happen? I will learn to be a Nature Therapy Guide and have an excuse to be outside." Little did I know how much I would appreciate the practice and want to share it with others.
In October of 2021, I began the certification to become a Nature & Forest Therapy Guide with ANFT. The certification is a six month didactic learning and a four day in-person training. I am also both Wilderness First Aid and CPR certified. In March of 2022, I started my Reiki training with Lost Forest Reiki.
It is my honor to create a safe space where all people can explore their connection with nature.
